Associate Pastor of Students
Job Description


JOB CLASSIFICATION
This position is a salaried, full-time position and will focus on making disciples of students and families; connecting them to meaningful worship, relationships, and service at First Baptist Church Denver City that will nurture and grow their personal faith in Jesus.  The required days of work will be generally Sunday through Friday, with one weekday off per week in communication and coordination with the other staff members. Further employment details regarding this position may be found in the FBC Denver City Personnel Policy Manual.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION
The student pastor is responsible for coordinating and promoting the student discipleship ministry, coordinating it within the total ministry of the church.
Working Relationships:
The student pastor works with the rest of the staff and the children and youth ministry volunteers. He(she) is responsible to the senior pastor in the planning, directing and leading of the ministry to students.
Responsibilities:
Personal:
1.Maintain a healthy personal relationship with the Lord through Bible study and prayer.
2.Maintain proper priorities at home, including healthy family relationships, taking time-off, and Sabbath rest.
3.Maintain a personal program for continuing education that includes spiritual formation, personal growth, and professional growth components.
4.Maintain a good reputation in the community.
5.Give financial support biblically to the church through tithes and offerings.
Professional:
1.Provide direction and leadership for the children’s and youth ministry of the church by coordinating and promoting the various ongoing teaching and training ministries (i.e. Sunday school, discipleship groups, missions education and experiences, Wednesday evening gathering, Vacation Bible School, Disciple Now, Kid’s Adventure Club etc.).
2.Organize and coordinate a well-rounded and balanced approach to children and youth ministry that includes Bible study, discipleship training, outreach, recreation, fellowship, mission action, and worship.
3.Enlist and train leadership in the children and youth areas for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programming as well as any regular outreach activities, staying current in the latest trends and teaching techniques.  Also leading such programs as needed in the absence of volunteers.    
4.Plan and provide leadership to all activities such as children and youth camps, mission trips, retreats, weekday Bible study, youth worship, seminars, banquets, and other special events.
5.Be prepared to provide individual and family pastoral counseling to meet the specific needs of students and their parents.
6.Develop ministries that will meet the unique needs of the parents of children & youth, involving them as much as possible in the ongoing ministry of both the student ministry and the church as a whole.
7.Create and maintain an effective method of outreach to all students within the community.
8.Supervise all youth spaces, maintain and organize all curriculum, supplies, technology and recreational equipment related to student ministry.
9.Prepare and administer the children and youth budgets.
10.Perform other duties as assigned by the senior pastor.
